As Barack Obama began crafting his administration last year, the term "competence over ideology" was often used to describe the incoming president's approach.
Fast forward past another election: as the top Democrat's job approval rating dipped below 50 percent and his signature first-year initiatives face increasing doubts, a bullish group of Republican governors emphasized results over rhetoric as they predicted continued success in 2010.

Local elected officials in New Jersey were told, in no uncertain terms this week, that the state is facing hard financial decisions and the ways of doing business will change when Chris Christie takes over as Governor in January.
One South Jersey mayor believes his colleagues got the message.

Mounting evidence that independent voters have soured on the Democrats is prompting a debate among party officials about what rhetorical and substantive changes are needed to halt the damage.
After serious setbacks with independents in off-year elections this month, White House officials blamed the defeats on local factors and said President Barack Obama sees no need to reposition his image or the Democratic message.
Since then, however, new polls make clear that Demo-crats face deeper problems with i

What I find very disturbing is the inequality of folks' compensation in these troubled times.
Reading about police officials making an average of $100,000 a year, while a teacher with a Master's degree gets maybe $60,000, makes no sense at all.
People employed in retail, light manufacturing, warehousing etc. are lucky to see $10 an hour.

Mounting evidence that independent voters have soured on the Democrats is prompting a debate among party officials about what rhetorical and substantive changes are needed to halt the damage.

Weysan Dun, who has led the FBI in Newark since 2007, is heading to Omaha, according to a report on NorthJersey.com. He was at the helm during the gang of 44 arrests last summer, a roundup so massive it shocked the world.
He was presented the 2008 Presidential Meritorious Executive Rank Award by FBI Director Robert Mueller.
The award is given by the president to recognize the accomplishments of career civil service employees.

Former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey's successor, Richard Codey, remained in his West Orange home instead of moving into the state's opulent and awesomely named governor's mansion, Drumthwacket.
Current governor Jon Corzine chose to reside in his Hoboken condo.
And governor-elect Chris Christie doesn't plan on moving in either, so as not to uproot his kids from their schools in Mendham.

If you want an interesting take on why people are so disgusted of politicians, particularly in NJ, drive over to Park Dr. in Nutley, where our hard earned tax dollars were spent renovating 3 perfectly good existing ball fields. The work has gone on for many months, I am sure costing us idiot NJ'ers millions of tax dollars. So here's the punchline, there is now a HUGE green sign in front of the project with Jon Corzine's name boldly and most prominently displayed, as his green project.....not coincidentlally timed just before the election. The sign must be taken down, and re-instated as NJ Taxpayer's park project. Not a penny of Corzine's was spent on this and he deserves no credit either. This will be going to both candidate's websites so that demonstrations can be coordinated.

Nutley Park ain't squat. Take a close look at the recent Rte 80 paving project. VERY poorly run and done & by who???? Much of the road did not need it (Hackettstown-west), rush hour interferences, and bridge transitions were attrocious (and dangerous) until they repaired (likely @ our cost) Corruption @ its finest & only in NJ We need to mobilize once and for all.
